Please read this carefully before engaging with our services or using our resources. This Disclaimer applies to all content provided by Restoration Soul Care ("RSC," "we," "us," or "our"), including the rscky.com website, downloadable guides (such as the Quick Start Guide), podcast episodes, the Pressure Assessor, individual and group coaching, the RECLAIM Recovery Community, workshops, retreats, church and ministry training, and any other resource we publish or service we provide.
01 Important. Read This Before Engaging
What we do is sensitive work. Our coaching engages with deeply personal topics, pornography use, sexual integrity, betrayal, shame, relational wounds, faith, and the long work of recovery. Some of what you encounter in our work, through coaching sessions, the Quick Start Guide, the podcast, or the community, may bring up strong emotions, painful memories, or spiritual questions you weren't expecting. This is a normal part of soul work, but you should know it going in.
If at any point you feel you need clinical care, please pause and consult a licensed mental health professional. We can help you find one.
02 Coaching, Not Therapy or Medical Care
RSC provides recovery and soul-care coaching. We are not licensed mental health professionals, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, medical providers, addiction specialists, or legal advisors. Our services and resources do not constitute:
- Medical care, mental health treatment, or psychiatric evaluation
- Psychological diagnosis or psychotherapy
- Substance abuse treatment
- Crisis intervention or emergency response
- Legal, financial, or tax advice
Coaching is a distinct discipline that does not replace clinical mental health care. Our services are not covered by HIPAA, and the legal protections that apply to a therapist-client or doctor-patient relationship do not apply to coaching. If you need clinical care, we encourage you to work with a licensed therapist, counselor, addiction specialist, or medical professional, and we are happy to help you find one.
03 Scope of Practice & Coach Credentials
RSC coaches are trained in faith-integrated soul care and recovery work. Our coaches' qualifications may include certifications such as PMAP (IITAP), PSAP (IITAP), CrossPoint Soul Care Institute training, Boyce College or Southern Seminary credentials, and other related professional training and continuing education. Not every coach holds every credential. The specific qualifications of the coach you are engaging will be made available to you on request before your engagement begins.
We do not hold professional licenses to practice mental health care, medicine, social work, addiction medicine, or law. We work within the scope of our training and certifications. When a situation requires clinical care or specialized intervention beyond our scope, we will tell you honestly and help you find appropriate resources.
04 Cross-State Practice
RSC operates from Kentucky. Our services are coaching services and do not constitute the practice of psychotherapy, counseling, social work, or any licensed mental health profession in any state. We do not represent ourselves as licensed mental health providers in any jurisdiction. If you reside outside Kentucky and engage us for online coaching, you do so understanding that our work is coaching, not clinical practice, and that we are not licensed in your state to provide clinical mental health services.
05 If You Are in Crisis
RSC coaching is not a crisis service and we cannot provide emergency intervention. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, or are at risk of harming yourself or someone else, please reach out for emergency help immediately.
If You Are in Crisis
Reach out for emergency help now.
You don't have to wait. These resources are free, confidential, and available 24/7.
- Call 911 for any immediate emergency.
- Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (United States).
- Text "HELLO" to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.
- Go to your nearest hospital emergency department if you are in immediate danger.
- Call 1-800-799-7233 for the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
06 The Recovery Process May Be Emotionally Difficult
Doing the kind of work we do together, telling your story honestly, naming triggers and wounds, sitting with shame, looking at family-of-origin dynamics, processing betrayal trauma, can be emotionally demanding. Some clients experience increased emotional intensity, sadness, anger, grief, or anxiety as buried material surfaces. This is often part of the healing process.
Before beginning coaching, please disclose to your coach any history of significant mental illness, suicidal ideation, self-harm, psychiatric hospitalization, dissociation, eating disorders, or current mental health treatment. This is not disqualifying, it allows us to assess whether coaching is appropriate for you at this time, whether additional supports should be in place, and how to work safely with you. Withholding this kind of history can put you at risk during the work.
If at any point your emotional experience feels overwhelming or unsafe, please tell your coach immediately. We may pause the work, slow the pace, refer you to additional support, or recommend that you work with a licensed therapist alongside our coaching. Your safety and wellbeing come first.
07 Confidentiality & Its Limits
We treat coaching-related conversations as confidential between you and your coach, subject to the exceptions below. Confidentiality is not absolute. We may be required or permitted to disclose information shared in coaching in certain situations, including:
- Imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or another identifiable person
- Suspected abuse or neglect of a child (mandated reporting under Kentucky law, see Section 8)
- Court orders, subpoenas, or other legal proceedings requiring disclosure
- Disclosure to our service providers (such as Stripe for billing) for the purpose of operating our business, subject to those providers' obligations to us
- Other circumstances required by applicable law
Your coach will discuss confidentiality and its limits with you at the start of your engagement, and at any point thereafter at your request. The full scope of how we handle your information is also described in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
08 Mandated Reporting
In accordance with Kentucky law (KRS 620.030), every person in Kentucky, including our coaches, is required to report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities. This requirement applies regardless of the confidential nature of the coaching relationship.
We may also report suspected abuse of a vulnerable adult or imminent threats of serious harm in accordance with applicable Kentucky law and our professional ethics, even where statutory mandate is unclear.
If a situation arises that triggers a report, your coach will inform you directly whenever it is safe and possible to do so.
09 Group Confidentiality
In group settings, including the RECLAIM Recovery Community and any workshops, retreats, or cohort programs, we cannot guarantee that other participants will maintain confidentiality about what is shared in the group. All members agree to confidentiality as a condition of participation, and breach of confidentiality by a member may result in their removal from the program. However, RSC has no legal authority to enforce confidentiality among group members beyond removing them.
When you participate in any group setting, do so understanding that disclosure by another member is possible, and share accordingly.
10 Marriage Coaching
Marriage coaching engagements involve both spouses. Before engaging:
- Both spouses must consent to the engagement.
- Marriage coaching is not couples therapy, marital counseling, or psychotherapy.
- We do not provide legal advice regarding separation, divorce, custody, division of assets, or any other legal matter.
Confidentiality between spouses
Our default practice is that information one spouse shares with us in an individual conversation (for example, in a private session or correspondence) is not unilaterally shared with the other spouse. If something needs to be brought into the joint work, your coach will encourage you to share it directly with your spouse, or, with your explicit permission, share it on your behalf. If both spouses give permission for us to share specific information between them, we will.
This default does not extend to information requiring disclosure under our confidentiality limits (Section 7), for example, threats of harm or mandated-reporting matters. Those exceptions apply in any setting, including marriage coaching.
11 Coach-Client Boundaries
Coaching is a defined professional relationship. To protect that relationship, your coach maintains boundaries around outside contact, social engagement, and other relationships with you during the active coaching engagement.
If you encounter your coach in another setting, church, conference, community event, social gathering, they will greet you warmly and respect your privacy, but they will not initiate coaching-adjacent conversation outside scheduled sessions. Your coach will also avoid dual professional or business relationships with active clients.
12 Faith-Based Framing
RSC's framework is rooted in Christian soul care alongside neuroscience-informed practice. We are open about this framing. Our coaching, resources, group programs, and community spaces reflect a Christian worldview, including references to Scripture, prayer, and a Christ-centered understanding of human formation, sexuality, and recovery.
You do not need to share our convictions to work with us. Many clients of varying theological backgrounds engage with our services and find value in the work. However, if a Christian framing is incompatible with what you need, we may not be the right fit, and we will help you find resources that are.
We do not impose specific theological positions on clients beyond our general Christian framework. Your specific beliefs, denominational background, and spiritual journey are yours.
13 No Guarantee of Results
Recovery and soul-care outcomes depend on many factors, including your engagement, willingness to do the work, support system, life circumstances, and factors beyond our control. We do not guarantee specific results from coaching, use of our resources, participation in the community, or attendance at workshops or retreats.
What we offer is the same approach we believe in and use ourselves, frank, faith-integrated, neuroscience-informed soul care. What you do with it, and what unfolds in your life as a result, is between you, your coach, and God.
14 Our Free Resources
We publish free resources, the Quick Start Guide, podcast episodes, articles, and similar materials, for your personal reflection. These resources offer general guidance, not personalized advice. They are not a substitute for working with a coach, therapist, or other qualified professional on your specific situation.
The information in our resources reflects our framework and experience as of the date of publication. We update our understanding as we learn and as research evolves. You are responsible for any decisions you make based on anything you read, hear, or watch.
15 The Pressure Assessor
The Pressure Assessor is a free self-assessment tool offered as a starting point for reflection. It is not a diagnostic instrument. Your results do not constitute a medical, psychological, or clinical assessment, and they do not diagnose any condition. Results are intended to help you reflect on patterns in your own life and, if you choose, to inform a conversation with us.
A high score does not mean you have a clinical disorder. A low score does not mean you are free of underlying patterns. The assessment is a starting point, not an answer.
16 Testimonials & Marketing Statements
Client testimonials shared on our Site, podcast, and marketing materials reflect the personal experience of the individual at the time the testimonial was given. Testimonials are not promises of similar results for you. Coaching outcomes vary widely based on individual circumstances, engagement, and many other factors. Your experience may differ.
We do not pay clients or offer free or discounted services in exchange for testimonials. Identifiable testimonials are shared only with the client's written permission.
17 Third-Party References & Recommendations
We may reference, quote, or recommend third-party books, professionals, organizations, podcasts, frameworks, or resources. These references are for your information only and do not constitute formal endorsement. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, practices, or current availability of third-party resources. References do not establish any relationship between RSC and the third party referenced.
18 Working Alongside Other Professionals
Coaching is often most effective when combined with other forms of care. Many of our clients work with us alongside a licensed therapist, psychiatrist, physician, pastor, spiritual director, or twelve-step community. We encourage this. If you are receiving any form of clinical care, please continue it.
We do not require exclusivity. Our work is not in competition with clinical care; it serves a different function.
19 Continuity of Care
If your coach becomes unavailable due to illness, personal circumstance, or other unforeseen events, RSC will work in good faith to transition you to another coach within our practice or to provide referrals to appropriate outside support.
20 Use of Our Information at Your Own Risk
Information published on this site, in our downloadable resources, and through our podcast is offered as general guidance, not as personalized advice. You assume full responsibility for any decisions you make or actions you take based on our content. If you have specific concerns, clinical, medical, legal, relational, or otherwise, consult an appropriate licensed professional before acting.
Our resources are a starting point, not a substitute for personalized professional care.
21 Health & Wellness Statements
Any statements on our Site, in our resources, or in our coaching about neuroscience, the brain, the body, sexuality, addiction, or recovery are based on our understanding of current research and our experience in soul-care practice. These statements:
- Have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration or any other regulatory body.
- Are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, disorder, or condition.
- Should not be used as a substitute for advice from a licensed medical or mental health professional.
22 Limitation of Liability
The full limitation of our liability and the scope of disclaimers governing your use of our services are described in our Terms of Service. By engaging with our Site, our resources, or our services, you accept those terms.
